Refuge III Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ

On October 1, 2006, Refuge III was established by District Eld. Leonard Fennell with his wife, Sis. Shirley Fennell in their home. As church membership continued to grow, services were moved into the garage. However, Refuge III outgrew the garage and was then moved into the pool house.  Again as membership increased, the need for a larger worship area arose. So Eld. Fennell, with the help of Dea. Louis Rhodes, Jr. and Bro. Harvey Smith built an additional building attached to the pool house, where services were held, until the Lord blessed us with our new building.  A building which was framed by Eld. Leonard Fennell, Bro. Daniel Devora, Dea. Louis Rhodes, Jr., Eld. Larry Hysaw, Bro. Charles Davis, Dea. Ervin Fennell, Jr, Sis. Katie Patterson and Sis. Dolores Devora.

Many awesome spiritual and physical occurrences have occurred and God has blessed us with faithful members. Last year we have had over 14 baptisms and three filled with the Holy Spirit, one of which was filled in Tuesday night Bible Class. We have been blessed with a Refuge III Clothing Ministry established by Sis.Carolyn and Bro. Shaakja, which the ministry has given over 500 items, such as clothing, shoes, coats, toys, etc. to children and adults throughout the community.  Refuge III Jail Bible Class Ministry led by Sis. Shanae Rhodes, including Sis Patricia Heyward & Sis. Fennell meet twice a month. It is amazing to see the blessing of God, not only in the inmates but also the guards. We have had guards from the jail come and visit the church.  This was truly a blessing.  Refuge III Outreach Ministry led by Dea. Louis Rhodes meets twice a month.  The ministry travels wherever the Lord leads; giving the word of God, singing, praying, and doing whatever they can to help the people. We have been blessed to helped people who are dying find God and peace.  We give God the honor and praise for allowing us to witness such an incredible and amazing experience.  The Outreach Ministry has opened the door for many community members to join Refuge III.  Refuge III Christian Book Club led by Sis. Lorraine Davis & Sis. Toni Reese meet monthly to discuss books for the month, relating it to the bible and current events of today.  In addition to our various ministries, Refuge III donates, support, and participates in different activities throughout the community.

Through prayer and fasting and the blessing of God to who allowed God to use Sis. Linda Nathaniel, we were blessed with donation of Church pews from Evangelist Temple Church of God in Christ in San Antonio Texas this January 2015.

Refuge III participated in Seguin's 4th of July parade.  The church's float was decorated, we played our spiritual songs and praises, and in the end won first place in the "Most Spirit" contest.  Refuge III partnered with a group of ladies from New Braunfels and the surrounding organizations and churches called Freedom Pink. The event was held at the Seguin Coliseum and over 300 ladies from the community came out for counseling, praises, singing, testimonies, food, and free clothing. Some ladies even rededicated themselves back to the Lord. Refuge III also participated in a 3K "Walk for Life" aiding abused and neglected children. Each year on Christmas Eve, Refuge III travels to Hope for Haven, a center for homeless and misfortunate individuals, and bless the people with a service of worship including songs of praise, testimonies, activities, games and gifts.

God has truly blessed us in our ministries and has allowed us to be a part of many community functions and services.  We give God the glory and honor for all the things he has done in our lives and his services. Please continue to pray our strength in the Lord; that we meet the challenges that are laid before us, and additionally that we keep loving and striving for perfection in the Lord.  We pray many blessings upon all God's people.
